(according to the national Swedish dictionary)

”You matter cause you are you, and you

matter to the end of your life. We will do

what we can not only to help you die

peace-fully, but also to live until you die.”

90 000 people die on

average in Sweden

a year

Out of that 90 000,

70 000-75 000 need

some form of

palliative care

(5)

In Sweden there are only about 150 beds in

hospices all over the country. Therefore only

150 people out of 75 000 people will be able

to pass away in a hospice

FUTURE

DEVELOPMENT

The sanitation after the

lumber mill closed down was

finished 2017 and it has been

decided it will become a

residential area.

These plans would not stop,

or hinder, or even diminish

the decision to place the

hospice here.

A hospice is not a sad place

like many think. It is all about

dignity and giving people a

worthy place to pass away.

(15)

The placement of the intervention used to be an area for storing

planks of lumber. Therefore the inspiration for the design will derive

from planks stacked on top of each other to give
