OF ENGINEERING,

AUTONOMOUS MARITIME OPERATIONS

STUDY OBJECTIVES AND STUDIES

This Master’s degree programme is for you who are interested to be a part of the fourth industrial revolution in maritime technology.

The Master’s degree programme in Autonomous Maritime Operation comprises 60 ECTS and the degree title is Master of Engineering, Autonomous Maritime Operations.

The programme has a special focus concerning the digitalization of maritime operations. The studies include 6 courses of relevant subjects each of an extent of 5 credits. Following subjects are covered:

• Introduction to studies and introduction to Marine operations • Autonomous vessels-automation

• Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-Machine Interaction • Remote Operations

• Cyber Security and Connectivity

• Classification, Qualification and Safety Perspectives

The studies are optimized for flexible learning and studying, parallel with fulltime employment ashore or at sea. The meetings are used for solving study technical problems and some lecturing. The major part of the studies and instruction is conducted using a learning platform.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

After completing the programme, you will be qualified to pursue a wide range of career opportunities. Graduates will be better suited for future employments related to the digitalization in the maritime sector.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY AND APPLICATION

Eligibility to apply to this programme is conferred by an appropriate UAS Bachelor’s degree or another appropriate higher education degree and at least three years of subsequent work experience in a relevant field. An appropriate Bachelor’s degree in a related field for this programme can be Bachelor of Marine Technology, sjökapten (YH) or merikapteeni (AMK); Bachelor of Engineering (seafaring), ingenjör (YH) i sjöfart or merenkulun insinööri (AMK); or another appropriate Bachelor’s degree completed in a relevant field such as maritime, marine engineering, automation engineering or ICT engineering.
