emeli månsson (1978) is a specialist in Infectious Diseases at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Hospital of Västmanland, Västerås.

Staphylococcus epidermidis is both a friend and a foe to

humans. Ubiquitously present in the human microbiota

S. epidermidis interacts with the human host in multiple

beneficial ways, but multidrug-resistant S. epidermidis are also emerging as pathogens in healthcare-associated infections, posing a threat to treatment outcomes. In this thesis, the molecular epidemiology of

S. epidermidis in prosthetic joint infections has been studied and genetic traits

associated with S. epidermidis PJIs investigated.
