In 2019, we published 48 articles in scientific journals or fully reviewed proceedings, see Fig-ure 41. We also had a number of papers in abstract reviewed proceedings and a few other ones.
Of the 34 journal papers only four described new image analysis theory, while the rest described research in various applications. However, among the 14 proceedings papers the majority, eight, were theoretical. This mostly reflects different publications patterns between us and our collab-oration partners in different application areas. The articles were almost all published in different journals and proceedings, reflecting the diverse needs of our fundamental research subjects.
It should be noted that in our field, conference proceedings often have high importance and high rejection rates compared to some of the journals. Authors affiliated with CBA are in bold;
they may also have other affiliations.
As a curiousity, we have collected the abstracts of this year’s reviewed conference proceed-ings and made a so called word-cloud from them, to see which words emerge as most used, see Figure 42. A modern concept like deep learning is quite prominent in the word-cloud, while the words from the topic medical image processing are not presented. One explanation could be that our medical research is published in journals.
