Som tidigare nämnts finns det flera intressanta områden att undersöka vidare. Att se vilken effekt anpassingar som leder till färre situationer med nedsättningar påverkar autistiska elevers prestation och beteende överlag är ett. Att sen se på hur den ableistiska synen på autistiska elever som bärare av en social nedsättning påverkar forskning och anpassningar som har med social kompetens att göra är en annan. Det går även att diskutera hur ableistiska skolans kunskapsmål är i sig själv och hur det i sin tur påverkar studier om elever i en skolmiljö. Slutligen är frågan om agens och hur den kan tänkas öka för autistiska elever och vilken effekt det i sin tur har när det kommer till autistiska elevers skolsituation ett område att utforska vidare.
