Mitt fokus i den här artikeln har legat på lexikon för maskiner, även om jag emellanåt har försökt jämföra dem med lexikon för människor. Som förhoppningsvis har framgått tror jag att de krav som automatisk språkana- lys ställer på lexikonresurser ifråga om explicithet, fullständighet, etc., men framförallt deras fundamentalt empiriska natur – de ska ju användas för att analysera faktisk naturlig text – generellt kan föra den lexikograf-iska metodutvecklingen framåt.

Speciellt passar den moderna språkteknologins fokus på distributionella (statistiska) metoder (Erk 2010) ihop med en ökande medvetenhet om att många – kanske de flesta – språkliga generaliseringar bäst uttrycks i statistiska snarare än kategoriska termer. Detta gäller naturligtvis även generaliseringar på det lexikaliska planet.
