6. Slutdiskussion
6.1 Vidare forskning
Vi anser att det är ett intressant och relevant område som bör undersökas ytterligare och uppmanar forskare att fokusera på relationen mellan riskuppfattning, informationssökning och resebeslut hos ungdomar. Förslagsvis skulle framtida studier ha en större respondentgrupp än vad denna studie har för att säkrare kunna fastställa hypoteser och generalisera ungdomars tankar och åsikter. Vi hoppas att resultaten av denna studie kommer att underlätta för turistoperatörer genom att förstå och bättre tillhandahålla resmönster för resande världen. Dessutom att denna studie kan vara till hjälp för DMO’s (Destination Management
Organisation) samt marknadsföringen av en destination. Då vi lyfter och visar relationerna
mellan riskuppfattning, informationssökning och resebeslut kan detta ge förståelse för hur destinationer ska hantera säkerheten och risker samt marknadsföringen för att attrahera turister som har såväl hög som låg riskuppfattning. Dessutom kan studiens teoretiska ramverk och resultat bidra till en större generell förståelse kring människors tankesätt i beslutsprocessen och vad mer som kan påverka detta. Exempelvis nämner tidigare forskning (Garg, 2015) att media är viktig för turismen då informationen som syns på dessa plattformar kan ha en bidragande påverkan på resebeslut, något som även studiens resultat stärker. Detta visar att DMO’s till exempel bättre kan marknadsföra för destinationer genom mediekanaler då turister oftast vill letar efter information för att minska riskerna (Maser & Weiermair, 1998).
Rekommendationer för framtida forskning kan vara att inkludera demografiska faktorer som en av de viktigaste övervägandena och distribuera enkäten till olika nationaliteter för att få en bredare studie.
