farm of
1920 acres
is not in a solid

but
the parcels of land are
contiguous
.
It is situated about
?miles northwest of Center, Colorado

uf this area

Leveling on
natural
flat
land is usually necessary to produce uniform
crops
an~ to
conserve
ater either
byflood irrigation or
sub

irrigation
.
'l'he
cost
of
such
leveling
ill range from
~20
to
~40 per
acre,
and no doubt some leveling will be
required
on
this farm
.
Sub

irrigation is
practiced here
exce

that the first
irrigation
is
done
byflooding
.
The ground water
in
the

is
usually at
5 to 6
feet
below the ground surface
,
and this must be brought up to within 2 or 3 feet
from
the
surface early
in
June
.
This is more difficult
on
the
estern edge of
the proje
ct
than tow~rds the center of the
valley and requires
more water
.
A
favorable feature
is that
wate

location, the present
cultivated land
probably will
require no artificial drainage
