EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES USED: The water or mud levels were checked with theM-Scope after the 1± inch plastic pipes were cleaned with an l& inch earth auger; Wood lathe with red ribbon was used to remark the locations, as the previous lathes were in most cases broken. 1± inch plastic caps were used cover the plastic pipes so that they would not get filled with dirt. Inside the caps embossed tape with the hole number was placed.
WATER LEVEL TRENDS: 46 hole locations were checked. Of these, 33 water levels were obtained, 10 holes could not be found, and 3 could not be measured. The hole numbers and locations were taken from Chen's No. 2
report.
The last time water levels were measured was on August 30, 1968, these measurements were taken by Chen & Associates and al 1 water levels are measured

(n the irrigated field away from the river, ground water levels have d: fped on the order of'(
2 to 4 feet. A few holes did have water level& dro~ 5 feet. Of all the holes
checked the water levels were 5 feet and deeper below ground level, rangll:ng up to 12 feet below ground level. There were only about
3
holes that had water levels less than5
feet.2 lowered after the irrigation season has ended. It is anticipated that the
ground water levels will continue to lower ~ntll the spring rains and irrigation
season starts again. I would recommend that the water levels be checked again once or twice before the irrigation season is started. This will give an
indication of the maximum water table change in a year due to irrigating. I would also recommend that the person in charge of the farming operation be notified so that all field hands would avoid the observation hole locations In the various farming operations, so that the locations and holes are not destroyed or covered up. It may be necessary to use steel fence posts to mark each location, as the wood lathe are easily broken by animals and equip-ment.

~r DITCH: On this field trip the ditch was observedto be flowing water, but no measurement of the flow was taken. Perhaps an accurate check of this flow may be helpful in future water supply and use on a year 'round basis.

Hr. Hugh Burns, Attorney at Law
Dawson, Nagel, Sherman .and Howard
First National Bank Building
Denver, Colorado 80202
Dear Hugh:
Attached are seven chemical analyses of water in the Windsor
area which were collected by our office on September 19 while we
were up there on other business.
We believe
t~atsuch analyses will be extremely useful as
basic data In regard to future water planning because quality
will most .certainly play an
lmporta~tpart.
P\ease note that the water from Windsor Reservoir and
the Larimer and Weld Canal is quite good whil'e the others are
more representative of return flow.
Thes~
tests can be compared and used with the qual tty
informa-tion contained in our water right evaluainforma-tion report. We could
continue collecting such tests once a month or so in the future
if you think It desirable. In general we would not make special
trips for this p•Jrpose but combine the collectlon with other work
in the Fort Collins area.
Very truly yours
