Dear Colleagues:
This is an urgent request for you to provide a sea ng chart for any class you teach with an in-person component. This is required for all instructors (faculty and GTAs). Please provide your sea ng chart(s) to your department head or chair (and keep a copy in your
possession) as soon as possible, preferably following your next class mee ng, but no later than end-of-day on Friday, Sept. 11. Please guide your students to use the same seat for the remainder of the semester, so this sea ng chart will be accurate for the rest of the semester. You should only need to create one sea ng chart for each course.
The CSU Public Health Team is requiring all instructors to create sea ng charts which can be used to support the contact tracing process should a posi ve case emerge in a classroom where that individual has a ended the course in the 48 hours prior to having any
symptoms or tes ng posi ve for COVID-19. Sea ng charts are needed for case inves gators to quickly iden fy and contact students and instructors who may have been in close contact to an individual who has tested posi ve for COVID-19. Should a posi ve case occur in a classroom and there is no sea ng chart to assist with contact tracing, the instructor and all students in the class will be required to quaran ne for two weeks. Contract tracers will be reaching out to the faculty as well as department heads and chairs to obtain the sea ng charts and determine what needs to be done for each classroom situa on.
If you have not completed sea ng charts yet for your in-person courses and submi ed to your department head or chair, sea ng chart templates for general classrooms can be found at: h ps://covidrecovery.colostate.edu/sea ng-charts/. For college or department-managed classrooms, please create your own chart(s) as best you can based on the room’s sea ng layout. Please ensure your students adhere to assigned sea ng that aligns with each chart for the rest of the semester. Please let your department chair or head know as soon as possible, if you feel a sea ng chart and assigned sea ng are not feasible for your class mee ng loca on.
Thank you for your pa ence and con nued support as we work together through this challenging me, and navigate the pandemic’s impact on how we teach and serve.
Sincerely, Mary
