Master Thesis "Geo-based Mobility for mobile traffic simulators “ – 00068062

Description

Find a solution for how mobile traffic simulators can distribute mobile terminals over a geographic cellular network plan, and move them around in accordance with specified mobility characteristics. Mobility characteristics in this context are made up from requirements and constraints such as e.g. number of cell border crossings per hour, maximum number of simultaneous visitors in different cells, allowed/disallowed cells to visit, etc.

• Suggest a concept and a programmatic model which solves the problem of moving mobile terminals over a geographic cellular network plan in accordance with a specification

• Show that the programmatic model can realize specified mobility characteristics

• Make it trustworthy that the programmatic model can conform to performance and capacity requirements of the targeted mobile traffic simulators

Qualifications

Good knowledge in programming and mathematics is desired. Our traffic simulators are mainly written in Java and C++. Prototyping can be made in these programming languages, but also others e.g. MathLab, etc.

Size

30hp. This is a thesis work for one or two students of a Master of Science program.

Time frame

The study should be started in fall 2012.
