The Challenge of Green Energy

The Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) has the pleasure of inviting you to our seventh Energy Day. This year the focus will be on environmental aspects of energy. Over the last decades environmentally friendly energy has become a key challenge for society. Indeed, there is a pressing need to cut pollution and the emission of greenhouse gases in the face of climate change and environmental damage. However, a shift to a “greener” energy mix is inevitably costly. Besides, such a shift may potentially undermine energy security in many countries. How can we balance these different forces? What role should be played by national and supra-national regulation? What is required to make investments in green energy attractive? This Energy Day will bring together experts from the energy industry, financial sector, policy community and academia to discuss these challenges.
