The opportunities for collaboration with EU in these sector are manifold. First, EU could encourage more participation of european organisations in these sectors . EU is India’s largest trading partner and trade has grown impressively over the years. With regard to investment European investment into In- dia is only 0.25 % of what they invest outside Europe in the last year.

There is huge potential for development of trade and investement between our countries which should be explored specially in the various areas of Infrastructure development. This session will examine the India-EU collaboration in these sectors to help create partnerships and a win-win outcome for both.

Parallel Session 2: Skills Development Hall : Desire

Skill development is a very important area for both India and the EU. For India it is critical to its overall development efforts and the aim of inclusive development, in particular. India has ambitious plans to raise gross enrolment ratio for higher education and vocational education. EU with its high rates of educational attainment can be a partner to India in this endeavour. How can EU assist in India’s Skill Development Mission through appropriate technologies that will promote sustainable livelihood and

higher income generation? What are the ways in which skill development in India’s youthful population can benefit EU’s ageing demographic profile?
