CULTURAL DIVERSITY ( 5 ECTS) Objectives of Course Student

- has knowledge and understanding of human social diversity and equality - has knowledge of immigrants and the process of immigration

- is able to be engaged in multi-cultural client work

• - reflects on the ethical aspects of inter-professional care with people representing different cultures and/or religions

• - possesses theoretical knowledge and practical skills to encounter and give care to people from different cultures and religions

Objectives of Course Student has knowledge of traumatic crises and their effect on the individual and the environment The student knows how to support clients who are going through traumatic crises

VÅÅ10HR07 TRENDS IN HEALTH CARE (3 ECTS)

Objectives of Course Student acquires advanced knowledge in the professional areas of competence and in the requirements and prospects of working life. The student internalizes the professional value base and develops his/her reflective capacity.

Course Content The student chooses literature with focus on future trends in health care (150-250 pages) and has this literature accepted by Head of Degree program. After the student has read the literature he/she analyses the content of the chosen literature in relation to his/her professional core competencies and writes a report (6 to 10 pages) based on this analysis.

Teaching Methods Literature search, acceptance by head of Degree program, self-studies, written analysis.

SOV01020 TRENDS IN SOCIAL SERVICES (5 ECTS)

Objectives of Course Student will get theoretical knowledge of the welfare system and social care system in Finland. Detailed competences will be adjusted to the student competence level.

Course Content The main topics are basic elements of the finish social welfare system, social insurance and social services.

Teaching Methods The course is student driven so that the student can choose literature according to the own interests. Literature studies Evaluations Methods Student writes an essay for about 10-12 pages and name the topic of the essay according to the main content.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT (3ECTS)

Objectives of course The student is able to:

define structure, service and outcome quality and meaning of quality assurance from the different perspectives, identify and apply prevailing quality assessment methods and quality standards within social and health care, describe the most central quality management systems within social and health care,

integrate quality assurance and quality improvement to her/his professional duties
