LOGISTIC AND SOCIAL FACTORS

PLANS SECTIONS AND USERS

SOCIAL FACTORY

Human scale

The factory is transformed from a rational multinational factory and the trans- formation is mainly focused on the user. This is by creating workspaces with views and daylight and to create shaded communication and recreational ar- eas.Cooperative farming.

The factory is the center of a cooperative farming business including 2000 farmers. This is the logistic center for the whole business including farming, refining, education and distribution of cuttings, with the mother plantation as the beginning of the cycle.

Education

The farmers that will grow the Stevia is educated on the site and will have a continues contact with the factory during the year.

New jobs

The factory will also be a new employer in this region and creating new jobs in a poor region on the countryside outside the big cities.

Stevia Farmer

The farmers are selected by Newco. Criterias for be- ing selected is that they will have 2-20 hectar of land and be enough to do the job. At the beginning they cultivate

0.5 acres of their land with stevia and eventually one hectare. They may grow stevia at maximum half of their land, that is to not deplete the soil and to avoid creating large monoculture plantations.

They come here for education, to learn how to grow Stevia. They meet the requirements and are chosen by Newco. After the education they will come back to get their cuttings for the first plantation. This new crop will increase their income more than thrice and makes it possible for them to keep their farm and stay in their village.

Laboratory

16 people works in the laboratory and the business related to the refin- ery process, which includes techni- cal staff and engineers.

Building qualities

They all have access from a shaded communiacation walkway and views through shaded windows. In the end of the hallway is a shaded rec- reationonal area by the rainwater reservoar pool.

Refinery

In the refinery it will work 48 employers that will work in 3 shifts which means 16 per shift.

Building qualities

They have access from the shad- ed walkway. The Process hall is lit by natural daylight and has views in three directions.

Visitor

A typical visitor comes either to get a guided tour in the top modern refinery or to grab a Yerba maté in the café or to eat in the restaurant of the work- ers which is also open for the public. It´s also possible to get a guided tour and to watch a exibition of the history of Stevia and the Guarni indians.

Education

The nursery part of the business educates the farmers. This is like a plantschool and 50 farmers at the time come to the plant for educa- tion how to grow Stevia. The edu- cation is held by staff at the site.

Building qualities

The calss rooms all have views and shaded communication areas. All class rooms have direct access to shaded recreational areas. The class rooms are cooled by water from the Aquifer.
