john jendeberg was born in Linköping, Sweden, in 1972. He obtained his medical degree at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2000. Since 2004, he has been working as a radiologist at the Department of Radiology of Örebro University Hospital. The research work of this thesis started in 2013 with Associate Professor Mats Lidén as supervisor.

Renal colic is said to be one of the most excruciating forms of suffering that humans can encounter, and is a common reason for emergency department visits all over the world. Computed tomography plays a central role in the workup of this disease. The aim of this thesis was to optimize the information obtained from computed tomography scans to allow a well-founded diagnosis and prognosis, and to guide the clinician as early and as far as possible in further treatment of urinary stone disease.
