He is also a member of the Skövde Artificial Intelligence Lab, SAIL. His main research interests are artificial intelligence and high-level information fusion, and the application of probabilistic techniques such as Bayesian networks for decision support.
In this doctoral thesis, Johansson presents a number of algorithms for threat evaluation and weapon allocation to be used for air defense. Methodologies for evaluating the performance of TEWA systems and the threat evaluation and weapon allocation algorithms being part of such systems are suggested, and are implemented into testbeds.
Experiments are presented in which the real-time performance of various weapon allocation algorithms is compared, showing that nature-based optimization algo-rithms such as particle swarm optimization are suitable for problem instances of small scale, but that greedy algorithms are better suited for large-scale problem instances.
