3 Terms and definitions

For the application of this document, the following term and definition applies:

3.7 execution class

classified set of requirements specified for the execution of the works as a whole or for an individual compo- nent

NOTE 1 to the term: In the predecessor to EN 13670:2009, ENV 13670-1, the term Inspection Class was used for this concept, which in the Swedish version was translated as "kontrollklass".

NOTE 2 to the term: Note that execution classes according to SS-EN 13670:2009 does not have the same meaning as execution classes according to BBK 04. Execution classes according to BBK correspond to competence classes, see Annex J.

4 Execution management

4.1 Assumptions

(3) and (4) Requirements on competence for execution of concrete structures are given in Annex J.

SS 137006:2015 (E)

(9)

5 4.2 Documentation

4.2.1 Execution specification

4.3 Quality management 4.3.1 Execution classes

NOTE to (5) and (7) According to the national application rules for the Eurocodes (see annex L), it is assumed that, at the minimum, execution class 2 is used for the execution of load-bearing concrete structures.

5 Falsework and formwork

5.7 Removal of falsework and formwork

(1) Unless otherwise specified in the execution specification, the compressive strength should be at least 70

% of the required strength when load-bearing formwork is removed.

NOTE The opening for requirements on strength is given in Annex C, 5.7 in SS-EN 13670.

6 Reinforcement

6.2 Materials

(1) Reinforcement shall fulfil requirements according to SS-EN 10080:2005 and according to the national ap- plication rules for the Eurocodes (see Annex L). Stainless steel reinforcement shall be tested in the same way and fulfil the same requirements as other steel reinforcement.

NOTE. 1 The European standard for reinforcing steel SS-EN 10080:2005 specifies properties and test meth- ods needed for reinforcing steel, but does not give complete specifications for the reinforcement and can therefore not be used alone as a reference. Nor is it applicable for the CE-marking of reinforcement.

NOTE. 2 SS 212540:2010 is a product specification for SS-EN 10080:2005, where the requirements given in SS-EN 1992-1-1:2005 and the national application rules that are valid at the date of issue of SS 137006 are taken into account.

6.3 Bending, cutting, transport and storage of the reinforcement.

(2) and (3) For the diameter of the mandrel used when bending reinforcement, including welded fabrics, SS- EN 1992-1-1:2005, 8.3 applies.

NOTE. Bending is also treated in the national application rules for the Eurocodes (see Annex L).

6.5 Joints

NOTE to (2) Note that the rules in SS-EN 1992-1-1:2005, 8.7 also apply for "running metres".

SS 137006:2015 (E)

(10)

6

7 Prestressing

7.2 Materials for prestressing 7.2.3 Tensile elements

(1) Prestressing steel shall fulfil the basic requirements according to SS 212551 and:

— SS 212552, for wire

— SS 212553, for strand

— SS 212524, for bars.

For certain applications, requirements on relaxation resistance and resistance to stress corrosion are also specified. For structures subjected to fatigue, fatigue resistance is also specified.

NOTE. Since EN 10138 is not yet published, these Swedish standards, which are based on prEN 10138-1, - 2, -3 and -4 have been published

7.2.6 Cement-based grout

(1) In addition to CEM I, CEM II/A-S, CEM II/A-V, CEM II/A-LL and CEM II/A-M according to SS-EN 197-1 may also be used in grout.

NOTE. National choice in SS-EN 447.

8 Concreting

8.1 Specification of concrete

NOTE to (1) Note that the edition of the national application standard SS137003, which is related to the valid edition of SS-EN 206, shall be taken into consideration.

8.2 Pre-concreting operations

NOTE to (9) Further guidance on winter concreting is given in Betonghandboken – Arbetsutförande, section 17.

8.3 Delivery, reception and site transport of fresh concrete

NOTE to (2) According to SS-EN 206, 7.5, all adjustments of the composition of the concrete at the site shall be agreed between the concrete producer and the client and shall be documented.

(4) Testing of air content immediately before casting is carried out as a part of the client's own inspection.

The testing can also be carried out by the concrete producer if this is agreed. Otherwise, testing of the prop- erties of ready mixed concrete during receiving inspection is only performed in case of doubt.

8.4 Placing and compaction 8.4.3 Self Compacting Concrete

NOTE 1 to (1) Additional requirements for Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) are given in SS-EN 206. Minimum re- quirements on competence when SCC is used are given in Annex J.

NOTE 2 to (1) Further guidance on the use of SCC can be found in Report no 10 from the Swedish Concrete Asso- ciation, ”Självkompakterande betong – Rekommendationer för användning”.

SS 137006:2015 (E)

(11)

7 8.4.6 Underwater concreting

A person responsible for the management and supervision of the casting shall be appointed, and this person shall fulfil the requirements for competence class I-U according to Annex J. The labour management and the operating and sampling personnel shall have good knowledge of underwater concreting.

NOTE Guidance about underwater concreting can be found in Betonghandbok - Arbetsutförande, section 26.

8.5 Curing and protection

NOTE to (1) According to the Glossary of Concrete Terms, curing is defined as measures taken after casting of fresh concrete in order to promote the development of its desired properties. Note that the hardening of the concrete is not included in this term.

NOTE to (4) The curing starts at the latest when the stiffening of the concrete starts.(7) For concrete in expo- sure class X0 and XC1, curing class 1 can be applied. For concrete that will be used in exposure class XC2, at least curing 2 should be used. For concrete intended for other exposure classes than X0, XC1 and XC2, at least curing class 3 should be applied.

In the following cases, curing class 4 should be used:

— If the concrete will be subjected to extensive abrasion.

— If particularly sensitive concrete types are used.

— If the structure is particularly sensitive to detrimental influences at early age.

(9) Required curing time for curing classes 2 - 4 should be based on the methods given in Annex F, F.8.5 (3).

For the curing classes 2 and 3, Tables F.1 and F.2 respectively, in Annex F can be used, if the temperature variations in the surroundings during the curing period are not anticipated to fall below + 5 °C and not vary by more than ± 10 C.

The surface temperature refers to the mean temperature during the curing period determined at a maximum depth in the concrete of 10 mm from the surface

As an alternative to using the surface temperature of the concrete to determine the curing time according to Tables F.1 and F.2, the average ambient temperature during the curing can be used. The ambient temperature shall then be measured with a temperature sensor that is protected from direct sunlight and not placed close to heat sources, such as radiators, chimneys, heat generating appliances and similar.

It is not appropriate to use the simplified method in Table F.3 in curing class 4.

NOTE: Opening for national choices can be found in Annex H.

(13) The temperature during curing in concrete parts which will be subjected to wet or to cyclic wet environ- ments is not permitted to exceed + 60 C, if the cement has a Na2Oeqv content greater than 3,5 kg/m3 and the cement has a SO3 content greater than 3,5 % mass fraction.

NOTE to (14) Guidance on heat curing can be found in Betonghandboken – Arbetsutförande, section 15.7. For heating during winter concreting, see NOTE to 8.2 (9) above.

NOTE to (16) Guidance on measures intended to diminish the risk for temperature cracks are given in Betonghandboken – Arbetsutförande, section 27 and in AMA Anläggning

8.8 Surface Finish

NOTE Guidance for specification of requirements on concrete surfaces can be found in Report 14 from the Swedish Concrete Association, "Att beskriva betongytor",
