Remove the top of the enclosure, and then remove the enclosure coupling. Take note of how it was

installed.

Apply a thread sealant, such as Teflon® Tape, to the male threads on the bottom of the

enclosure coupling.

Be sure the full port ball valve to the process line

is closed.

Install the enclosure

coupling in the ball valve.

Install the enclosure onto

the enclosure coupling, in the fashion noted in

step 1.

Apply a thread sealant, such as Teflon® Tape, to the male threads on

the bottom of the unibody probe.

Install the probe to the enclosure coupling using a 1-3/8” open end wrench

on the upper or lower wrench flats on the base.

DO NOT install using the packing cap flats.

Be sure the unibody inlet valve and the manifold outlet ball valve are closed.

Slowly open the ball valve to the

process.

Lower the probe to the proper depth by using a

7/16” open end wrench only on the wrench flats

of the threaded

rod of the probe.

with their respective fittings. Make any final adjustments to

the insertion depth so that the unibody and its fittings line up with the tubing

lines.

Reconnect the relief valve tubing.

Reconnect the drain tubing.

Using a leak detector, check for leaks at the following locations:

process connection, probe packing seal, tubing connections,

and any other additional connection

made during the probe installation.

If leaking occurs through the probe packing gland, use a 1-3/16” open end wrench to tighten

the packing seal plug until the leak

stops. DO NOT

OVERTIGHTEN.

Connect the heat traced sample tubing from the analyzer to the

sample outlet fitting.

Connect tubing to Avenger external

drain and run tubing to safe drain location, if

desired.

Connect tubing to relief valve connection and run tubing to safe

relief location, if desired.

Align the holes of the heater block with the holes on

the back of the unibody.

Use the provided spacers, washers,

and screws to connect the heater block to the unibody with a

5/32” allen wrench.

Refer to the Intertec literature provided with the unit for electrical wiring.

unibody.

Establish a minimal bypass

flow at the Avenger bowl

valving.

Switch off electrical power to the 745, and take precautions to prevent burns. The regulator will

be HOT.

At this point the sample pressure can be adjusted

to the desired value.

To raise the outlet pressure, turn the pressure adjustment

screw clockwise.

To lower the outlet pressure, turn the pressure adjustment screw

counterclockwise while gas is

flowing through the regulator.

To allow sample flow, slowly open the manifold outlet ball

valve.

At high supply pressure, a sudden change may be observed on the downstream pressure gauge as the valve stem moves away from the seat.

Slight re-adjustments may be necessary until the pressure and flow

have equilibrated.

Tighten the pressure adjustment screw lock nut firmly against the washer to

prevent unintended changes in pressure adjustment.

Place the top back on the enclosure and secure it in place

with the attached latches.

Switch on electrical power to the 745, and take precautions to prevent burns. The regulator

will become HOT.

The self-limiting electric conduction heater is designed to be attached directly to manifolds, measuring or analyzing instruments, control valves and similar equipment installed in hazardous areas. It heats the device by conduction. This is the easiest, safest and most economical method of freeze protection or temperature maintenance.

2 Features & Advantages

 Energy saving, high output

 Self-limiting, no fusable link or limiter

 Compact, requires very little space

 Adjusts automatically to the voltage

3 Description

BLOCKTHERM is a metal heating block with a ½” NPT thread to connect to a conduit. The PTC cartridge provides the heat that is transferred through the heater block to the device to which it is attached.

4 Performance

A conduction heater requires considerably less power than a finned convection heater, as the heat conduction qualities of metal are much better than those of air. The air surrounding the whole installation in the enclosure serves as additional insulation.

The diagram below shows the heating power at different block temperatures.

8 Temperature Limitation

PTC-Elements (Positive Temperature Coefficient) raise their electric resistance with rising temperature. High resistance results in low heating power. The heating power is very low at high temperatures so that the temperature cannot exceed the maximum temperature of the respective temperature class.

9 Supply Voltage

In addition to the above mentioned temperature characteristics, the PTC elements show a varistor effect. They control their resistance in accordance to the supply voltage. The nominal power supply voltage may be 110 to 265 V with the same heater. The output may be a maximum of 15% higher than that shown on the diagram on page 1.

12 Mounting

The BLOCKTHERM block heater dissipates the heat by conduction. It should be mounted to a flat surface of a heat conducting material (e.g. metal). One bolt is sufficient to mount the heater.

Example:

The SL BLOCKTHERM CKA T4, which is attached to a Fisher-Rosemount 3051H Transmitter by means of an aluminum adapter block, guarantees freeze protection for the transmitter, manifold and impulse lines installed in an INTERTEC Instrument Enclosure at an outside temperature as low as -13 °F/ -25 °C.

As well the SL BLOCKTHERM CKA T3 will provide protection to -49 °F/ -45 °C.
