In his work as a forensic expert at the Swedish National Forensic Centre, Andreas Carlsson has encountered numerous psychoactive substances within the field of drug analysis. Uni-vocal determination of the chemical content of police seizures is naturally an essential step in those investiga-tions. This study presents findings re-garding the spectroscopic differentia-tion of new psychoactive substances, as well as crucial methodological aspects, including criteria for unam-biguous identification and chemical pitfalls, within a forensic application.
