I relativt tidigt skede uppfattade författarna att relationerna utifrån maktperspektiv inte är lika varandra. Studiens resultat visar att alla relationerna mellan större företag och mindre leverantörer varierar. Fortsättningsvis fann författarna att makten är inte automatiskt given till det stora företaget. Detta leder till möjligheter för framtida forskning. Framtida forskning skulle kunna använda sig av ett större urval av leverantörer för en undersökning med samma ansats. Stora företaget i denna studie är i inledningsfasen av implementering av hållbarhetskrav i leverantörskedjan. Det skulle därför vara intressant att undersöka hur relationerna ser ut med ett stort företag som kommit långt i implementering av hållbarhetskrav.
