Det finns ett stort behov av vidare forskning om IVA-delirium för att förbättra vården för patienterna med detta tillstånd. Förslag är forskning kring rutiner, användning av
bedömningsskalor samt teamarbete mellan olika professioner vid IVA-delirium, där syftet skulle vara att förbättra och tydliggöra rutinerna kring IVA-delirium. Detta skulle stärka IVA- sjuksköterskans roll i vården av patienter med IVA-delirium samt förbättra vården om och för patienterna.
