6.2 Framtida forskning
Denna studie har berikat oss som författare om hur Grön IT tillämpas i verksamheter i syfte att uppnå bättre hållbarhet. Dock finns det potential för utökad information tills framtiden.
Eftersom denna studie endast specificerade hur IT-tjänsteföretag arbetar med hållbarhet så kan den möjligtvis expandera till hur produktionsverksamheter nyttjar IT ur ett hållbart perspektiv. Resultat från det potentiella ämnet kan utöka förståelsen hur producenter införlivar fenomenet Grön IT och följaktligen inspirera liknande företag i behov av kunskapen.
Ett ytterligare förslag kan vara hur IT-verksamheter motverka koldioxidutsläpp. Eftersom hållbarhet fokuserar till största del om att vara utsläppsneutral som kan det tolkas från begreppet ”resurser för nutidens behov och aspirationer skall inte äventyra framtidens egna behov” (Brundtland 1987; Hart 1997). En studie hur verksamheter utökar deras CSR-ramverk genom att vrida tillbaka utsläppsnivån istället för att endast hålla den neutral är mer behövligt än någonsin under dessa tider.
Under arbetets gång var det även svårt att hitta information och tidigare forskning kring kopplingen mellan Grön IT och CSR. Vi hittade fåtal vetenskapliga artiklar kring detta fenomen och anser därför att mer forskning i framtiden är eftertraktat med tanke på hur fort utvecklingen av IT faktiskt går.
