Slutsatsen av denna litteraturöversikt är att det finns brister och svårigheter enligt sjuksköterskans erfarenheter av att identifiera och bedöma sepsis. Sjuksköterskor önskar utbildning för att få mer kunskap om identifiering och behandling av sepsis. Ökad kunskap och utbildning kring sepsis bör ständigt uppdateras för att vårdpersonalen ska hålla sig uppdaterade i sin förmåga att diagnostisera sepsis och för att vården ska vara säker. Ett bedömningsinstrument kan hjälpa sjuksköterskor att bedöma och identifiera patienter med misstänkt sepsis i ett tidigt stadium.
8.1 Förslag till vidare forskning
Litteraturöversikten tar upp sjuksköterskans erfarenheter att identifiera och bedöma patienter med sepsis. Det finns inte så mycket forskning om just sjuksköterskans
erfarenheter av att identifiera och bedöma sepsis så det är ett ämne som det borde forskas vidare på. Sjuksköterskan har en skyldighet att hålla sig underrättade av de senaste rönen gällande deras egna områden. Det kan även vara intressant att forska vidare kring de erfarenheter och upplevelser som patienten har som tidigare drabbats utav sepsis relaterat till att diagnosen identifierats av sjuksköterskan genom att göra en studie av kvalitativ design med intervjumetod för att få fram patienters erfarenheter och upplevelser. Det hade varit intressant att se likheter och skillnader samt sjuksköterskans upplevelser kring sepsisvård när det gäller att identifiera, bedöma och behandla både barn och vuxna. För att få fram så bra material som möjligt av detta kan det vara av värde att använda sig av kvalitativ metod med semistrukturerade intervjuer för att betona erfarenheterna hos individen. Kvalitativa metoder skapar en större och djupare förståelse genom intervjuer och kan därför leda till att studierna och forskning på ett mer flexibelt sätt möjliggör för fortsatt forskning samt även utvecklande studier.
