8. Begränsningar

8.2 Urval av respondenter

Ursprungligen var tanken att vår enkät endast skulle distribueras via Svenskar i Världens nyhetsbrev som når 22 000 svenskar boendes utomlands. Enkäten skickades ut med

nyhetsbrevet men dessvärre var svarsfrekvensen mycket låg, vilket enligt Trost (2012:141) kan bero på att webbenkäter ofta har en låg svarsfrekvens. Det få antal svar utskicket genererade resulterade i att vi fick komplettera med två andra datainsamlings plattformar, vilket blev Facebook och SWEA. Dessa plattformar resulterade i att urvalet endast kan betraktas som delvis slumpmässigt. Webbenkäter kritiseras vanligen för så kallat sampling error, vilket innebär att stickprovet inte är representativt för populationen (Bryman & Bell, 2011:196). Två anledningar till att urvalet kan ses som delvis slumpmässigt är att SWEA är en organisation som endast vänder sig till kvinnor och att Facebook är en plattform som kräver en aktiv närvaro på sociala medier. Troligtvis finns det ett stort antal expatriater som till följd av tidsbrist inte besvarat enkäten, vilket också kan ha påverkat studiens externa validitet.

Our names are Elsa Scilla and Sofia and we are distributing this survey in order to collect data for our Bachelor's thesis at Uppsala University. The purpose of our thesis is to examine the possible relationship between work-life balance and work performance among expatriates.
