För att kunna dra starkare slutsatser angående instrumentet FES-I och rädsla för att falla och hälsorelaterad livskvalitet hos strokedrabbade personer i Sverige skulle en studie med
betydligt fler deltagare vara att föredra. Vidare har denna studie endast undersökt intern konsistens och korrelation med ett (1) annat instrument i syfte att utvärdera FES-I för en ny population. Trots att studien visade på goda resultat skulle utvärderingen av FES-I för svenska personer med stroke kunna kompletteras. Detta genom att undersöka instrumentets korrelation med ytterligare instrument exempelvis BBS, test-retest-reliabilitet samt
känslighet för förändring hos denna population. Intressant skulle även vara att undersöka hur olika interventioner påverkar fallrädslan och den hälsorelaterade livskvaliteten hos svenska personer som haft en stroke. Vidare skulle en kvalitativ studie kunna vara av värde för att undersöka personernas känslor och upplevelser av sin funktionsnedsättning efter stroke på ett djupare plan.

Förfrågan om att delta i en studie om rädsla för fall och
livskvalité
Bakgrund och syfte
Detta är ett brev med syfte att informera dig gällande ett examensarbete som genomförs av två fysioterapeutstudenter vid Mälardalens Högskola. Syftet med studien är att undersöka om det finns ett samband mellan rädsla för fall och livskvalité hos personer som varit med om stroke. Undersökningen sker via två frågeformulär.
Förfrågan om deltagande
Du tillfrågas om deltagande då du är medlem i Facebook-gruppen ”Stroke mitt i livet” och svarade ja på vår intresseanmälan. Det är gratis att delta i studien. Ingen ekonomisk
ersättning delas ut. För att medverka skall du vara över 18 år, ha möjlighet att kommunicera och förstå det svenska språket i skrift. Stroke skall vara den huvudsakliga orsaken till din balansnedsättning.
Studiens praktiska genomförande
Vi kommer att skicka ut frågeformulären samt några frågor angående din stroke digitalt via e- post alternativt via post om du ej har möjlighet att besvara formulären digitalt. När du har besvarat frågorna skickar du svaren digitalt eller via frankerat svarskuvert till oss. I ett av frågeformulären får du skatta hur bekymrad du upplever dig vara för att falla i vardagliga aktiviteter och i det andra frågeformuläret får du skatta din livskvalitet. Vi uppskattar att det tar ca. 15-30 min att gå igenom och fylla i materialet.
Eventuella risker och fördelar
De eventuella fördelarna med att medverka i studien är att du får möjlighet att reflektera kring faktorer som påverkar din balans och din livskvalitet. Vidare kan din medverkan leda till en ökad förståelse för om det finns ett samband mellan rädsla för fall och livskvalitet hos personer som haft en stroke. Studien medför inte några fysiska risker. Om det skulle upplevas emotionellt påfrestande att besvara frågorna om din livskvalitet och om du önskar få samtala om detta kan du kontakta oss.
Konfidentialitet
Dina svar kommer att behandlas så att inte obehöriga kan ta del av dem. Personuppgifter kommer att avidentifieras genom att namn byts ut emot en sifferkod i testprotokollet. All digital kontakt kommer att ske via en inlåst lösenordskyddad laptop.
Presentation av studiens resultat
Studien kommer att presenteras i form av en uppsats vid Mälardalens Högskola och kommer att vara tillgänglig för allmänheten.
