for poisoning and a.l so -follow up da·~es were arranged to complete the
\Wrk. fter the ··ates set the County Agent, working with the
Co muni ty Cha,ir ..ien and others, :aite a survey o:f the· ,vork done and visited land not poisoned. Most of tlie resident landowners

The oontiractor furnished a. complete report of tho work as
to location of land by township, range and portion of section, the
acreage poisoned and: the owner of t.10 land. Afte;r inspection this
sheet was o. K. 'd by the co.,mnni ty chairman on pest control.

One of the most pleasing pieces of
work
accompl!bshed in1919 was the Boys and Girls Club Work. A great work was oar-ied to
completion with tfav ass1star1ae of County Chairma.n of c1u·b Work. 11:r. G. 1 .. ?? xon and the Girls Club Leader. 1 s, :Maude Hoskins.

the County Fair and altogether CluL Work was a great success.
A silo campaign ras :planned and an e oursion held. Eight
silos were built as a direot :result of this tri:p.
T~e agent assisted in re-organizing the Cow Testing
Association but ttrough the undesirability of testers the as&oa
-iation finally quit business.

R • . d .• a potato proj,.,ct was started.A potato bHke was held on September sevent, 1919. s a result of this
work 6,400 pounds of certified seed potatoes v,ere ordered from
Minnesota by seven. Douglas County far ners. The see a. proved to be very
poor and diseased but enough potatoes were raised to g·ive ns a good
great deal of' the agent's time was taken up in late sum.mer
and fall in. helping make the Coun·ty Fair a success. Here he acted
as secretary and did all clerical vork besides ass1sti.ng in
getting in e:a:h:z.bits. ihe Club work exhibits tended g:rea.tly to
make the Fair a success.
Some 53-laborers we:te placed• thus assisting the :farmers
me~terially in getting their farm work done.
The Agent
left
early in the f~11 £or a similiar position in M:Lssouri · lea.v:i.ng the county without a.in agent until March 1st.1820. when the co roissionera were able to secure the present
irJoumbent.
The first ten days o:f the new Agent's time E-re s:pent with
various other ~gents getting familiarized with the Colorado plan of County Agent vrnrk.
~he Agent arrived in the county for actual work Jiaroh tenth
1920, ancl. spent the first week in.reorganizing tle office files and general offioe syster1 and
trying
to determine just what hadbeen done and 'Where
it
was left
off.

what the greatest needs and vdshea of the people were and to
follow out this plan and gradually get acquainted with th people and their needs With the plan in mind of gaining the acquaintance
