• Campus media-Wyoming Public Radio is excellent, but the Branding Iron does not provide much in the way of news or information. It also is often full of errors-they could use an editor. The libraries are underfunded-every year they have to cancel subscriptions to important scientific journals, which are important resource materials

College life here is quite satisfactory. The classes are an extreme challenge.

Housing availability is bad, as well as housing prices. (off campus) Parking is bad. Some of the teachers are-bad and the evaluations should be taken more seriously. Computer Science is not an Arts and Sciences program but an Engineering science, and the teachers involved should quit their little match. Computer Science summer school is pathetic, same courses offered every summer. Definitely not preparing some of us for real job market, instead of academic! On other hand, very nice campus, like this survey, Registration and Records and Financial Aid staff and area are outstanding. I guess this all is part of the so-called "academia sector." Overall I can not wait to get out!

I am an exchange students here for one semester (from another university), so if my answers seem off, this is the reason.

• I am very disappointed in the state of the Student Union being an international student and having a busy schedule, it makes my life so miserable that after 3:00p.m. I can not get any food anywhere in the school. The Union is dead after 7:00p.m. and even if you are there, there is not a whole lot going on. I will be very pleased if this situation can be changed.

• I am very happy with the Department of Physics and Astronomy, but find other services in the University lacking, especially tuition billing procedures.

• I enjoy attending the University of Wyoming and feel that I am getting a good education here. I feel sad that the university is highly unattended as compared to other schools of equal quality. I am some what disappointed with the library resources, it seems like the library never seems to have what I am looking for. I also think that it is unfair that the University of Wyoming regulation/policy that students who transfer from an in-state school community college who do not have certain amount of hours at the University of

Wyoming prior to the semester in which they graduate, are not able to graduate with academic honors. I have University of Wyoming GPA of3.9 and can't graduate with honors because of a lack of2 credit hours. • I feel the grading system needs to be upgraded. Perhaps consider giving credit for ( +, -) received along

with the standard letter grades.

I really enjoy the atmosphere at University of Wyoming. The location is great (Laramie Is a beautiful city) and the price is right. I am disappointed that rent in the University apartments has gone up once and is going to raise again in only 1 and half years that I have been here. The maintenance habits leave a bit to be desired. No the grounds are great but getting something fixed in the apartments takes some time.

• I think that more different classes should be offered each semester. Like not making the fall classes the same classes offered every fall. The teachers should have more time during the week available for students to come in. All of the. shuttle bus drivers should look around for those who are running to the bus, so that they do not get left behind.

I would like to voice a major concern of mine. I came to this University for the resources available. Instructors, labs, opportunities, and most of all, libraries. I do a large amount of research for personal (professional) projects in my field (Paleontology/zoology). The libraries (science) has had a majority of recent publications terminated (60%) due to budget cuts. As a paying student this reference material, both recent and past is an essential part of any students research. We need those publications!! On a brighter note: the Interlibrary Loan Department has been very helpful above and beyond the call of duty. • Improvement must be made to academic rigor. Professors need to quit teaching to the lowest common

denominator, especially in freshman science classes. If necessary, raise admission standards and demand more overall of students. University of Wyoming is not recognized as a serious academic institution outside of the state. As the only University in the state, this is not acceptable.

• It is important for the college to fix the parking problem. Also, I would like to see more cultural diversity on campus.

• Make it easier to get instate tuition for students that live and pay rent here but are originally from out-of-state.

• More parking for everyone.

• Need more parking.

• Overall the College of Arts and Sciences has been very helpful. I am pleased with the amount and level of classroom instruction, related laboratory classwork, and academic advising. I think one of the greatest concerns on behalf of the university as a whole, is the current parking and parking permit situation. There just is not enough space for 9:00 or 10:00 am classes. Another great concern I have is that with student health. I personally had an experience where my confidentiality was disregarded and disrespected. This is one thing, aside from excellent health care, that a student should be able to depend on.

Parking is a joke, so is the ten dollar fee. Really sick of all the bureaucratic BS that is involved in registering etc ...

Parking here is a major pain. This must be fixed. We must have more parking!! I get tired of driving around for twenty minutes to find a parking space and as a result being late for class.

PLEASE give more funds to the Science and Geology libraries, the discontinuation of journal is a huge impediment to research. Also, stop giving funds to on <:ampus religious groups that is inappropriate for a state run organization.

Regarding student health insurance-I do not like having to file a waiver each semester to decline University of Wyoming health insurance. Why can this not be done one time-good until revoked by the students? Safety-College needs more lightning at night/campus walkways, etc. Advising-Improved assessments of course material needed and already satisfied/especially for transfer students. Financial aid-More time needed between bills for tuition and payment due dates; especially for non-resident/out-of-state students. Spring break was to early in the year. We had three snow storms over break. Spring break should be later in the year when the weather is better. All of my friends who go to different schools have their spring break two weeks later, so I could not go and do things with them. There is not enough parking. If the dorms were full there should not be any rooms for all of the cars.

The advising needs to improve in the COB Economics Department. The first semester should be sitting down and mapping out all four years.

The advising system could use some work. Also people working on campus (non-professors) could be more caring. They do not seem to follow the "Every student is a person" theme adopted by the school. There are a lot of classes offered considering the site-location of the school.

• The advisors at the campus should see their advisee's, not just sign off for classes that day of registrations. The Computer Science program needs to rise to meet the needs of the students. This Department is not up to today's standards and technology.

• The only real concern I have had at this institution is the continued employment of a tenure instructor who shows up to class drunk. After meeting with the department head and she acknowledged the problem, this instructor was allowed to continue teaching. I no longer have any dealings with the English Department. The Psychology program needs to offer more for the non-clinical oriented student, for example, cognitive neuroscience. The psychology department has a lot of advisors for each person but offers little information for career goals (not well informed).

• The Union should buy more pinball machines ... enough of this shoot-em-up. They should charge twenty-five cents instead of fifty cents ... come on!

The worst thing about this University is it's not dealing with the students "Every student is a person" they should change it to "Every person is a number''

• There are some good instructors here, and some very poor. The poor instructors do not practice mutual respect and make themselves available to students. The good ones are those who keep regular office hours, practice mutual respect, answer the students questions and have an up-beat friendly attitude. Does anybody use the evaluation surveys in determining which people teach which classes? It seems that these surveys have no impact.

• There is a decided lack of concern about students coming from non-teaching staff here. Areas such as the libraries, fmancial aid, bookstore, and campus police. Sometimes these people are outright rude to students. Also I feel that the University does not always look at students needs when making administrative decisions. I think that the generally good teaching faculty is under appreciated at this university.

This college needs to dramatically improve the computers, labs, research funding, housing availability, and its reputation. Being in Zoology I have been exposed to several guest speakers from all over the country, each and every one has told me to go to a more respectable university. This is very troubling to me. I have stayed up until now because of my advisor, Dr. Atherton. Now I am not sure, I have started looking at other universities Pre-Medical programs.

This was given during a review I needed, this does not please me and I hope for more flexibility in the time that these are given. Other than that I am pleased with the professors and classes and am glad that I attend the University of Wyoming

We need the climbing gym to be fmished soon .

We need a college radio station! At least passed the bill of bringing big bands to Laramie. We need more activities like that.

What is up with all these scholarships available for ethnic and minority students? What about WASP's?

Still have not fixed my toilet in my apartment. How do illiterate football players make it to their senior

year? You need to coordinate better with this states community colleges-the people running Casper College and University of Wyoming are not helpful.

What were you thinking when you canceled the WWRC? Water is one of the most important resources we have, especially in an arid environment.

AGRICULTURE

Administration should take a couple of hours a week to get out and meet students, no matter how busy. We pay your salaries.

For a state with so many economic problems I fail to understand why the university fails to return all that it can to our communities. When changes were made in the Wyoming Union corporation such as Aramark

and Starbucks were brought in. The coffee shop for one could have been--offered to local businesses. It

seems quite obvious that the state of Wyoming is in need of this money. I really feel sorry for the secretaries, janitors, etc. trying to feed a family on their wages. Is it really the professors who need pay increases?

I feel that the continual increase in out-of-state tuition is ridiculous and will eventually lead the University of Wyoming to a very low enrollment causing it to cut many colleges.

I hate Knight Hall. All the people there just try to cheat the students. I really like the Agricultural college. I think that more parking is needed in or around campus for students use only.

I think the president needs to look at what is good for the university as a land grant institution in the state of Wyoming. He is looking at it as a business, (which is not totally bad) but not how some of the decisions

will impact the sate. An example is the water resource center closure. Water is one of Wyoming's greatest

resources and needs to be addressed. There are several areas where money is wasted that would have made the difference. The CTE is an example. There is very seldom anyone using this facility but it is still being paid for. There is not enough room here for all of the examples of where I feel money is not being spent in the correct areas.

More parking spaces for commuters.

Overall I am satisfied with this University. However, there are a few things that need to be changed. For most being the student activities, I have found that the selection committees for many of the campus activities, honorees, and scholarships are very biased. I am not just saying this because it worked against me either. I have sometimes been the beneficiary of this bias. If one is not in a fraternity or sorority or the honors program, then their chance of being involved in activities and/or honorary is decreased greatly. The best are generally not selected. It is based more on who you know. This makes the honorary like a total joke with no prestige or honor.

This college provides a high quality, challenging education. However, University of Wyoming does not

receive recognition for its high perfonnance. Laramie is ''windy," is the only thing that outsiders know

about this town.

Vertical cuts in curricula and programs need to be made in order to fund the libraries and building maintenance. University of Wyoming cannot be all things to all people. We have too small a tax base to finance all degree programs.

BUSINESS

Build a climbing wall. Offer transportation to ski area. Decrease foreign students who teach and cannot speak very well. Lower the price of books. Do something about all the slumlords around campus, have more concerts. Offer more summer classes. Keep students better informed about scholarships. Fire John Nutter and the guy who works in the Half Acre. More computers. Coe library should stay open later and more during breaks. Pop/candy machines in Coe library. Have a fall break.

Fix parking. It is a pain!

Spring break should be at least two weeks later than normally scheduled. University of Wyoming to be lagging in social nontext more than educationally .
