Advance Notice Denver, Colorado, September 20, 1961.
To all prospective bidders for construction of Blue Mesa Dam and Power-plant, Curecanti Unit, Gunnison Division, Colorado River Storage Project.
It is anticipated that invitation for bids for construction of Blue Mesa Dam and Powerplant will be issued in December 1961.
Inasmuch as weather conditions at the time of issuance of specifications may make access to and examination of the site of the proposed work difficult, prospective bidders are invited to inspect the site in the near future, in order that they will be informed and in a position to submit a bid when the work is advertised. The approximate location of the work is shown on the attached location map.
The work will consist of construction of an earthfill dam 350 feet high and 800 feet long at the crest with a 16-foot diameter outlet tunnel, a 21-foot-diameter spillway tunnel, a powerplant constructed for installat10n of two 30, 000-kilowatt generating units, construct10n of 1. 1 miles of powerplant service road, and relocation of 4. 7 miles of State Highway No. 92. The generating units will be installed under a separate contract.
