BIENVENIDOS A BARCELONA - WELCOME TO BARCELONA

acontecimientos.

In the last 25 years Barcelona has carried out a great transformation effort, which is admired around the world. Just now the time has arrived for consolidating the achievement reached in this process.

We have the purpose to improve the quality of our public space, streets, pavements and urban furniture. For this reason and during the next three years 63 parts of the city, equivalent to 30 % of the built-up area of Barcelona will receive interventions addressed to its total renovation, from street lamps and seats, to pavement and wastepaper baskets. All this means an investment of 250 millions Euros.

This ambitious operation means a deepening in the Maintenance Culture, as well as a new opportunity to make the high level of cohabitation and community spirit evident, that is so characteristic for our city.

The celebration of the 17th European Maintenance Congress and the 3rd Industrial and Building Maintenance Exhibition are a very good instrument for spreading the importance of the Maintenance for preserving the quality of life. For this reason it is a pleasure to welcome to Barcelona all the participants in these special events.

Joan Clos

Alcalde de Barcelona / Mayor of Barcelona
