jan-Erik swärdh was born in the small town of

Enköping, Sweden. As an undergraduate he studied Eco-nomics and Statistics at Uppsala University. Since 2004 he has been employed at the Department of Economics in the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) and affiliated to the PhD Programme in Economics at Örebro University.

This thesis deals with the issue of valuing the non-market good of travel time, with a special focus on commuting time and different types of data used for estimation. Commuting time changes over time are also analyzed.
