On behalf of Kelly Long, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs, and the Undergraduate Teaching Con nuity and Recovery Team
Dear Colleagues:
This is an update on University opera ons for post-Fall Break, primarily what you can expect for access to buildings, offices, classrooms, labs and other spaces. A er Fall break, courses will all go remote for the last two weeks of classes and finals week (Nov. 30 – Dec. 18). However, our campuses will look more like they do today than they did last March when CSU quickly pivoted to mostly remote opera ons.
Offices and buildings will maintain some level of in-person opera on post-Fall Break to serve the students remaining in the residence halls (between 200-500 students) and those living off-campus in Fort Collins. These students will need access to computer labs, study spaces, and may need administra ve assistance. Faculty will have access to their offices and their regularly-assigned classrooms in order to deliver their courses remotely. GA Classroom Access: Nov. 30 through Dec. 18
· Faculty may use their assigned general assignment classrooms during this period for remote course and exam delivery. (Students are not permi ed to a end classrooms for in-person instruc on.)
· Faculty may access assigned classrooms during their regularly scheduled class period(s). (If other accommoda ons are needed for classroom access, consult with your department scheduler or chair/head.)
· Faculty may use classrooms for the purpose of synchronous delivery of their courses remotely or to record course lectures for asynchronous interac on.
· All technology support and solu ons will con nue to be available to faculty to support remote course delivery and instruc on.
·
All disinfec ng sta ons will be maintained as we have since in-person instruc on began in fall.Classroom access for course delivery allows faculty access to classroom technology, and creates a sense of instruc onal con nuity for both students and faculty in the late-semester transi on to online-only teaching.
Building Access
As a default, most University buildings will be unlocked from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Access outside these hours will require an access card or hard key.
Some buildings may be locked 24 hours per day if they: a) do not have GA classrooms,
b) do not have facili es important for serving students, and c) have security issues.
· Study spaces and computer labs will be available to students 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily to provide space for par cipa ng in online classes, studying and comple ng course work.
· Colleges and departments will communicate administra ve office opera ng hours to their students, faculty, staff through college/department websites and email.
· Morgan Library and Lory Student Center will be open to students, faculty and staff; verify hours of opera on online at: h ps://lib.colostate.edu/about/hours/ and h ps://lsc.colostate.edu/about-us/lsc-building-hours/.
More informa on will be forthcoming in a few days from your college and/or departments regarding specifics on hours of opera on, and building and space access. Addi onally, updates for post-Fall Break and the Spring 2021 planning are posted online as informa on becomes available: h ps://covid.colostate.edu/kb/plans-for-post-fall-break-spring-2021/.
The Pandemic Preparedness Team (PPT) will con nue to administer COVID screening and tes ng protocols post-Fall Break and through Winter Break. The latest informa on can be found at CSU’s COVID Informa on & Resources website. We expect faculty, staff and student employees who return to work on campuses to par cipate in these processes as recommended by the PPT. Please keep in mind that pandemic condi ons in Larimer County and the state may change at any me, and we will all need to be prepared to shi how we operate based on the direc on of our public health experts.
Thank you for all you do. Sincerely,
