Foreword
This European Standard has been taken over by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 218 ”Rubber and plastics hoses and hose assemblies” from the work of ISO/TC 45 “Rubber and rubber products” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 1995, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by August 1995.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Fin- land, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

Förord
Innehållet i denna europastandard har utarbetats av ISO/TC 45 ”Rubber and rubber products” inom den internationella standardiseringsorganisationen (ISO) och överförts till europastandard av den tekniska kommittén CEN/TC 218 ”Rubber and plastics hoses and hose assemblies”.
Denna europastandard skall ges status som nationell standard, antingen genom publikation av en identisk text eller genom ikraftsättning, senast i augusti 1995.
Motstridande nationella standarder skall upphävas senast i augusti 1995.
Enligt CEN/CENELECs interna bestämmelser är följande länder förpliktade att införa denna europastandard: Belgien, Danmark, Finland, Frankrike, Grekland, Irland, Island, Italien, Luxemburg, Nederländerna, Norge, Portugal, Schweiz, Spanien, Storbritannien, Sverige, Tyskland och Österrike.

Introduction
Suction testing is applied to hoses to determine that they will withstand the differential pressure encountered in service resulting from a re- duced pressure within the hose. The degree of suction for the test will be specified in the relevant product standard.
