In today’s health and social care the call for improvements in collaboration and the co-ordination of care is recurrent. The argument runs that collaboration and teamwork is necessary in order to guarantee quality of care for the patient and to achieve an effective utilisation of resources. For some years now interprofessional education has been proposed as a means to accomplish this. One form of interprofessional education is offered by train-ing wards, where students from different professions work together durtrain-ing their clinical training in order to develop collaborative competence. In this thesis student nurses’, student occupational therapists’ and student social workers’ interprofessional learning on a training ward in municipal care for older persons is described and discussed.
