Abstract
The purpose of the essay was to find out through a qualitative study if the work conducted at the family pre school is apprehended the same way by professionals and mothers. The intention besides this was to investigate the collaboration group’s importance for the activity. The study is based on halfstructured interviews with six mothers and two staff members from the family pre school along with 14 questionnaires consisting of both open and closed questions answered by personnel from antenatal clinics, child welfare centers, social services and non-institutional psychiatry. The interviews and questionnaires were put together seperately and then compared with each other to see whether the mothers’ opinions about the activity corresponded with the professionals’ opinions or not. The result of the study shows what the respondents feel is functioning well and what could be further developed. The result also points out the difficulty the professionals experience in their work with mothers and other professionals. All the study participants were very enthusiastic about the activity and what it has meant for the mothers and children but they also feel there is a need for increased activity.
