DAVID CRAWFORD
IfInternetartists have recently relocated their work to galleries and museums, there has meanwhile been an increasing engagementon the partofgallery artists with the media. While these migrations are oen discussed in aesthetic ifnoteconomic terms, this essay asks whatsuch phenomena can tellus aboutthe changing nature of sub-jectivity in relation to media and technology.
ree main themes are introduced:the aura ofinformation, inscription t ech-nologies,and the real-time archive.e themes extend across subsequentchapters addressing:the relocation ofnetart, the remix as an artmethod, and the capacity of the subject to respond to technology. e idea that technologies alter subjects (produce subject-effects)plays a centralrole in the arguments advanced.
