6. Slutsats
6.5. Begränsningar och förslag på fortsatt forskning
Uppsatsen har varit tidsbegränsad och har genomförts i liten skala med totalt nio respondenter inom tre olika branschområden. Eftersom studien har valt att fokusera på tre branscher finns det en möjlighet att vissa förhållningssätt har missats. Det finns även en risk att svaren från studiens respondenter är vinklade för att idealisera företagens hållbarhetsinitiativ. Att företagen har varit anonyma i studien borde ha bidragit till en minskad skönmålning av det egna företaget, men det går inte att utesluta.
En metodkombination (se till exempel Bryman et al., 2019) genom till exempel observation hade kunnat säkerställa resultatet ytterligare.
Studiens resultat avviker även från vad Grimstad et al. (2020) forskning visade, då deras studie resulterade i att det är de inre motivationsfaktorerna som driver SME-företags hållbarhetsarbeten och att de yttre motivationsfaktorerna bara är en bonus. Det går att motivera för olika anledningar, men det krävs mer forskning om vad som motiverar SME-företag till hållbarhetsarbete för att ge mer reliabla svar. En faktor är skillnaden i förhållningssätt gällande hållbarhet mellan olika branscher. Grimstad et al. (2020)
studie var specifikt fokuserad på en bransch, norska marina industriföretag, vilket troligtvis kan vara en bransch där hållbarhet står högt upp på Agendan. Vidare studier skulle därför kunna fokusera djupare på en särskild bransch. Det hade även varit intressant med vidare forskning kring implementeringen av Agenda 2030 i både små och stora företag. Det uppkom i forskningen att det i vissa branscher kan finnas svårigheter med att implementera målen i sitt hållbarhetsarbete. Finns det vissa branscher som av någon anledning har svårare att implementera målen och varför?
Det skulle även vara intressant att jämföra samma bransch inom två olika länder, särskilt länder med skilda kulturer för att i större utsträckning se hur kulturen påverkar företagens prioriteringar och tankegång avseende hållbarhet. Det skulle ge en bild av vart i världen de största utmaningarna finns för att uppnå Agenda 2030.
