Utifrån denna studie kan fortsatta studier fortsätta fokusera specifikt på kompetensområden eller utvecklande roller. Det finns fortfarande frågor kring möjligheter med digitaliseringen, som inom artificiell intelligence, digitala tjänster och verktyg. Det finns kompetensområden som fortfarande utvecklas som fortsatta studier kan fördjupa sig inom. Därför kan fortsatt studier ta sig an specifika kompetensområden för att göra en fördjupad undersökning om de utvecklande kompetensområdena. Fortsatta studier kan även fokusera på de teorier som finns inom de två professionerna för att göra en jämförelse över de perspektiven som används. Det kan ge mer kunskap om vilka begränsningar och utvecklingsområden det finns inom professionernas teoretiska kunskaper och modeller. Det kan jämföras med den praktiska kunskapen för att även identifiera tyst kunskap. Tyst kunskap är ett område som kan vara svårt att undersöka, därför kan kunskapsområden ha uteblivit från denna studie. Ett intressant område är hur digitala system kan utvecklas för att skapa mer samarbeten och ge ny funktioner och tjänster. Samhällets påverkan och intresse för arkiven och bibliotekens roll är också betydande för professionernas utveckling och de tjänster som erbjuds. Därför kan det vara intressant att studera samhällets syn och behov.
