6. Diskussion

6.3 Framtida forskning

Jag har inte funnit studier i Sverige om andlighet och socialt arbete, socialarbetarnas andlighet eller socialarbetarnas psykiska hälsa och andlighet. Vilket tyder på att det behövs forskning på det området. Det skulle även vara intressant att forska djupare i Sverige kring vad andlighet kan bidra med i socialt arbete även i klientarbete. Dessutom kan man undersöka varför det finns skillnader i hur andlighet definieras i Sverige och Tyskland jämfört med andra länder.

Att empati med klienter inte leder till empatitrötthet överraskade mig positivt. Det är snarare tvärtom: Att inte känna leder till empatitrötthet. Resultatet var oväntat och förvånade mig därför att det går emot andra studier t.ex. Branson (2019). Här skulle man kunna forska vidare för att se om det finns en skillnad mellan ”andlig” och ”vanlig” empati. Till sist har det

kommit upp en fråga i mig som kanske är värd att reflektera över: Upplever socialarbetare idag i större omfattning psykisk ohälsa på grund av att de inte är i kontakt med sin egen andlighet? Framtida forskning skulle kunna ge svar på den frågan.
