Jack W. Eastman, superintendent of the Sterling, Colo., factory of The Great Western Sugar Company, has been appointed superintendent of the Fort Morgan factory.
Lloyd Jensen, vice president-operation's, said Mr. Eastman will on June 1, succeed Mart Schmode, retiring July 1 as superintendent after 53 years of service with the company.
Mr. Eastman was born in Huron, S. D. , went through high school at Loveland, Colo. , and was graduated from Colorado University in 1944, majoring in business ad-ministration.
He entered Great Western service as a chemist at Loveland in 1944. After promotional transfers to factories at Greeley, Fort Collins and Longmont, he was appointed assistant superintendent at Greeley, 1954; Brighton, 1957;
and Loveland 1958.
Mr. Eastman was promoted to superintendent at
Sterling in 1960. Under his 'leadership the Sterling organization has won the GW pennant competition twice; won second place once and been close contenders in two other campaigns.
Mr. Eastman was married to Miss Anne E. Etter of Loveland in 1943. They have four children: Bert, 21 who en -listed in the army in:May; Nancy, 17, graduating from Sterling high school this year; Stuart, 16, in high school and Sue, 10.
