The Great Western Sugar Com-pany paid $4,495,200 to growers Oct, 24 as final payment on the 1966 crop of sugar beets grown in Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming, Kansas and Texas.
A company official said pay-ment to individual growers is de-termined by sugar content of beets delivered,
Average returns per ton, in combined company and government payments, ranged from about $15,50 to over $16 in different beet-growing areas.
On receipt of the Oct. 24 pay-ment, growers will have received $64,462,000 for their 1966 beets, including direct company payments and sugar act payments returned to the grower through the pro-cessing tax levied on the company.
