GOVERNMENT USING COilTVENTIOHS TO INFORM CITIZENS OF WAR lJEEDS
In a three-quarter column story, the August

issue of the Journal of Co~~ercecarried a story of which the following is the first paragraph:
"Government use of business conventions as a means of educatin~
business men to the needs of the war proGram has influenced the Office of Defense Transportation to rule that travel to conventions is a per- missible use of transportation facilities. it was learned today.1t Another paragraph reads as follows:
ttMr. Eastman told the Journal of Commerce today that it is not necessary for associations to obtain Office of Defense Transportation approval before holding a convention."
A close study of our Denver Meeting program will indicate how closely the Federal government is cooperating with this Association in an attempt to solve many mutual and timely problems in the West.

The Western State Engineers will hold its annual meeting October 12 and 13 at the Shirley-Savoy Hotel.
The Mountain States Association will meet October 12 and 13 at the Cosmopolitan Hote 1.
The Western Beet Growers Association will hold a confer'ence at the Shirley- Savoy Hotel the afternoon and evening of October 13. Mr. E. W. Rising, Executive Vice-President, will arrive in Denver October 12 and desires to establish contact with those interested in the extension of the domestic beet industry in new areas throughout the West, as far in advance of this conference as possible.
The Board of Directors of the National Reclamation Association will meet in the Spruce Room of the Shirley-Savoy Hotel, October 12 and 13, to transact such business as usually CO~BS before it.

The Oklahoma Reclamation-Association held its annual meeting at Altus, Oklahoma on September
