WRESTLING
Mesa College can be proud of its fine wrestling squad. The
only two year school in the region which had a team, the grapplers
made quite a name for themselves, winning two otit of three
matches with powerful four-year schools. The Mavericks split two
.matches with the Western State Mountaineers, and beat Brigham
Young University. A lot of praise is due Bill Perry, captain of the
squad, and also coach. Under his direction, the sport had a
tre-mendous revival last winter, and has the way paved for future
wrestlers at Mesa College.

SPORTS FOR WOMEN
Women, as well as men, carry on an
exten-sive athletic program at Mesa College. During
Fall Quarter the coeds tested their ability in
archery and soccor. As the temperature dropped,
they moved into the gym for basketball and volley
ball. Spring Quarter brought coeds outdoors again
to play softball and tennis.

MESA COLLEGE ON THE AIR
For several years station KFXJ has given
Mesa College 15 minutes each week for a program
called Mesa College on the Air. Programs are
given by students and faculty members in the
various departments and organizations.
Some-times the program is tape recorded at the college
and transcribed at the studio.
It
provides an
op-portunity not only for college publicity, but for
every student to participate in a radio broadcast.
Students have enjoyed thls ··e~perience of · split
second timing, of using correct and functional
English, or just the thrill of live broadcasting
over the air waves. Victor Charles has been
an-nouncer and director of the program for the past
two years.
