5.5 Begränsningar
förslag för vidare forskning är således att upprepa denna undersökning i syfte att jämföra olika sociala medieplattformar för att identifiera eventuella skillnader. Ett annat förslag är att göra undersökningen i flera olika länder för att se om det finns några kulturella faktorer som påverkar konsumenters attityder till annonser på sociala medier och/eller deras annonsundvikande. Denna studie grundar sig i tidigare forskning och teorier om vilka faktorer som påverkar konsumenters attityder till annonser på sociala medier och deras annonsundvikande. Trots att tidigare studier indikerar på att dessa faktorer är viktiga så kan det även finnas fler, outforskade faktorer som påverkar denna relation. Det vore därför intressant för framtida forskare att göra en studie av kvalitativ karaktär som avser undersöka vad som formar konsumenters attityder till annonser på sociala medier. Genom att göra en kvalitativ studie får undersökningen ett större djup som skulle kunna möjliggöra identifikationen av nya, vitala faktorer som påverkar konsumenters attityder och i förlängningen även deras annonsundvikande.
En djupare analys i hur olika demografiska variabler påverkar relationen mellan konsumenters attityder till annonser i sociala medier och annonsundvikande vore också av intresse. Denna studie indikerade på vissa skillnader i både attityder och annonsundvikande beroende på kön och ålder, det krävs dock fler undersökningar och djupare analyser för att stärka dessa slutsatser. Vidare kan det tänkas att resultatet kan skilja sig mellan frekventa och icke-frekventa användare av sociala medier. Då majoriteten av respondenterna var frekventa användare av sociala medier kunde en sådan jämförelse inte göras i denna undersökning. Som nämnt fanns dock skillnader mellan olika åldersgrupper, vilket kan indikera på skillnader även i frekvent/icke-frekvent användande då yngre respektive äldre personer använder sociala medier i olika stor utsträckning.
En anledning till att det är viktigt att förstå varför konsumenter undviker annonser på sociala medier är för att öka kunskapen i hur marknadsförare kan skapa mer effektiva annonser. Det är dock få studier inom området för annonsundvikande som faktiskt undersöker detta samband. Det behövs därför mer forskning som kan klargöra huruvida de faktorer som leder till mindre annonsundvikande också leder till ökad annonseffektivitet eller inte.
5.5 Begränsningar
I likhet med mycket annan forskning har även denna studie begränsningar. På grund av tidsbegränsningar och få resurser fanns inte möjlighet att göra ett större, mer representativt urval. Att sprida undersökningen på sociala medier medför väldigt lite kontroll över vilka som faktiskt svarar, vilket gör att urvalets representativitet kan ifrågasättas. Antalet respondenter,

275 personer, var också relativt litet sett till populationen, vilket ytterligare begränsar resultatets generalitet.
Vidare undersökte studien ett beteende (annonsundvikande) genom självskattning i form av ett enkätformulär. Respondenterna fick själva ange huruvida de undviker annonser på sociala medier eller inte. Studien mätte således inte det faktiskt beteendet, vilket gör att resultatet kan vara missvisande. För att få ett mer tillförlitligt resultat avseende just annonsundvikandet hade det varit nödvändigt att mäta det faktiska beteendet, vilket hade kunnat göras genom olika typer av avancerade programvaror. På grund av de begränsade resurserna var det dock inte möjligt för denna undersökning.
Det finns även vissa begränsningar i studiens reliabilitet. I dataanalysen framgick det att vissa begrepp inte var tillräckligt reliabla vilket resulterade i raderande av ett antal objekt (item). Detta innebar att vissa begrepp bestod av mindre än tre objekt, vilket inte är rekommenderat. Genom att ha fler objekt till respektive begrepp hade studiens reliabilitet förstärkts.
