During the summer months beets were buffeted by adverse weather conditions, but recent improvement has lifted hopes for a near-normal crop.

The factory campaign at Sterling is scheduled to kick

focused on the new beet pulp dryer which has been installed here by GW. It will eliminate the piles of wet pulp.

The dryer was completed last month and GW crews have been getting training in its oper-ation this week.

Also new this year is the sup-erintendent. Ralph Bristol arri-ved this summer from Gering Neb. to succeed Jack Cors. l:,erg who has been

superinten-ffent the past two campaigns, The factory will have about 130 employes for the campaign which will probably continue

into January.

The Sterling district this year '1as 12374 acres to harvest. That is more than usual becau-se acreage around Crook Sid-ney and Sunol Neb. has been added.
