HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

Conference organizers are working with House of Travel, an RPCV-owned firm in the Baltimore area, to secure hotel accommodations for conference participants at a substantial discount. Please remember that Washington-area rates are higher than many other parts of the country. You are encour-aged to use this service, which we believe will give you the best possible rates in the immediate Washington area. You may, of course, make your own accommodations if you prefer. All hotel reservations made through the conference must have a deposit to secure the room. All charges, including sales tax, are payable at check out. D.C. hotels charge a $1.00/ per room occupancy tax.

Accommodations checks only should be made out to House of Travel and reference the Coalition for the Peace Corps 25th. They should be included with this form and registration check and sent to the Conference address (PO Box 15531). Phone inquiries about hotels should be directed to: House of Travel (301) 879-5010.

EIGHT IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

ABOUT THE 25th ANNNERSARY

CONFERENCE AND GALA WEEKEND

WHAT?

The 25th Anniversary National Conference of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers & Staff and Gala Weekend.

WHO?

120,000 fanner Peace Corps volunteers and staff, their fami-lies, and a few others are invited. A coalition of fanner volun-teer

I

staff and citizen groups is planning and carrying out the conference - with willing cooperation and assistance from the Peace Corps.

WHEN?

Thursday, September the 18th through Sunday the 21st, 1986. (Special events for 1961 volunteers on Monday.) Washington, D.C. In a pavilion on the Mall between the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. Capitol.

WHY?

Because it's Peace Corps' 25th Anniversary. Because fanner Peace Corps volunteers and staff today are doing a lot of interesting things as individuals and groups. Because there are a lot more worthwhile things we could be doing together to continue our impact on the United States and the world.

HOW?

Mail us the registration fonn with your payment. We will acknowledge your registration and send infonnation. Arrange hotel accommodations through us, if you want. Fill out the back of the fonn and mail us a separate check made out to House of Travel. We will make your arrangements at dis-counted conference rates.

Call the Eastern Airlines toll-free number, 1-800-468-7022 {1-800-282-0244 in Florida only) and mention the access number EZ9AP38 to qualify for our special, highly-discounted rates on airline tickets. Or make your own transportation arrangements to Washington if you aren't flying or can do it cheaper. (We have selected Eastern, solely on the basis of their superior offer, to be the official airline for the weekend.)

IS ANY OF THE WEEKEND GOING

TO BE SUBSTANTNE??

Yes! The conference will be a good look at ourselves and issues of concern to us - an attempt to articulate a vision of Peace Corps service encompassing 25 years of widely diverse expe-riences overseas, varied projects and activities back home, and a future of continuing service to Peace Corps ideals. The agenda will examine the Peace Corps' future, global and domestic peace issues, RPCV groups and projects, enduring projects for RPCVs to support, "Third Goal" development education, fanner volunteers' impact on the professional world, and much, much more.

O.K., BUT WILL I HAVE A GOOD TIME?

Yes! A very good time. Of course, there are some people who can't have fun anywhere, but we'll give you every opportunity. How do these sound?

• Reunions for volunteers by country of service. Country updates. Embassy receptions. (RPCVs from Ethiopia have pledged at least 700 attendees, with others organizing to match that now.)

• An international food and music festival on the Mall. • A memorial walk to honor the founder of the Peace Corps, organized by country of service, from the Lincoln Memorial to the John F. Kennedy gravesite in Arlington National Cemetery. • Extraordinary speakers from the U.S. and abroad. • A Capitol Hill Congressional Reception and fund-raiser for RPCV projects (maybe in the Capitol itself.)

• A memorial service for volunteers who died in the Peace Corps led by CBS commentator and fanner Peace Corps Dep-uty Director Bill Moyers.

• A Peace Corps 25th Anniversary concert with Harry Bela-fonte, the National Symphony, and others - possibly tele-vised - at the Kennedy Center.

• Infonnation on organizing local RPCV groups, sharing ideas, identifying enduring RPCV projects, and creating a strong national RPCV organization.

• A special RPCV outreach center; representation from over-seas consulting finns, companies and PVOs.

• A very impressive 25th Anniversary large-fonnat book titled Making A Difference. (Profits will go directly to Peace Corps or RPCV projects.)
