Studiens resultat visar på en mer nyanserad bild av ”förskolan förr” än vad gemene man ofta föreställer sig, och öppnar därmed upp för många frågor och mönster som skulle vara värda att undersöka i ett större sammanhang. En liknande studie som denna, men där samtliga 399 protokoll granskas skulle vara värdefullt för både det historiska förskoledidaktiska fältet och för
utbildningshistoria. Det är av intresse att undersöka om samma mönster vad gäller föreställningar om barn framkommer i det fullständiga materialet som i denna studie. Vidare forskning skulle även kunna gå in mer styrt och undersöka en av de 3 diskurser som framträder i denna studie; utvecklingsdiskursen

mångfacetterade barnet eller den barncentrerade diskursen med barn som aktiva lärandesubjekt.
Ytterligare en annan intressant aspekt som skulle kunna lyftas vidare är intertextualiteten mellan den här formen av observationsprotokoll och den typ av dokumentation om barn som förs på förskolor idag.
