Ed Gonyou was born at Wallaceburs, Ontario. His work in the sugar industry spa.ne half a century, beginning in sugar factories in
Canad.a and Wisconsin before entering Great Western service in 1913 as a sugar boiler at Eaton, Colo.
After serving with the A.E.F. in France, he returned to Eaton and subsequently won promotions at Fort Lupton, Brighton, Fort Collins and Loveland.
