Denna studie undersöker strategiska allianser mellan små teknikföretag och stora samarbetspartners, för produktutveckling och kommersialisering, från det mindre företagets perspektiv. Detta i syfte att få en djupare förståelse varför små teknikföretag väljer att bilda strategiska allianser med stora samarbetspartners för produktutveckling och kommersialisering, vilka utmaningar som kan uppstå samt hur utmaningarna relaterade till denna typ av asymmetriska allians kan hanteras. För att få övergripande bild och förståelse för dessa allianser bör detta även undersökas från det större företagens perspektiv. Ett förslag på vidare forskning inom området är därmed att undersöka dessa allianser från både den mindre och den större partens perspektiv.

I denna studie undersöks även dessa asymmetriska allianser för den specifika kontexten produktutveckling och kommersialisering. Ett annat förslag på vidare forskning är att undersöka strategiska allianser mellan små företag och stora samarbetspartners i andra kontexter. I och med detta skulle det kunna utredas om det finns skillnader mellan fördelar, utmaningar och strategier för att hantera utmaningar i olika typer av asymmetriska allianser.
