F ÖRSLAG TILL FRAMTIDA FORSKNING

Denna uppsats bygger på en kvalitativ innehållsanalys av tre företags hållbarhetsredovisningar. Företagen är verksamma inom olika branscher vilket har varit en utmaning vid jämförelse av begreppens konstruktion och operationalisering. Ett förslag till framtida forskning kan därför vara att analysera företag inom samma bransch för att på så sätt tydligare kunna jämföra användningen av begreppen och se om det finns några slående distinktioner som kan grunda sig i kulturella skillnader eller andra organisatoriska frågor. Ytterligare ett förslag är att djupare dyka in i teorier om organisatoriskt meningsskapande och organisatoriskt lärande med koppling till CSR och hållbarhet. I denna studie har det varit omöjligt att utreda hur företagen hanterar och selekterar informationen från intressenterna och vilka informationsutmaningar de möter i sin jakt på meningsskapande. Kvalitativa intervjuer med företagsledare och medarbetare hade varit en mer passande metod för att kunna djupdyka i frågorna. Slutligen så skulle det även vara av intresse att undersöka hur hållbarhetsredovisningar upprättas och vem som bestämmer hur CSR och hållbarhet kommuniceras. Är det hållbarhetschefen, kommunikatörerna eller rent av en extern konsult? Detta kan vara viktigt för att förstå om CSR och hållbarhet är en integrerad del av företagens affärsmodell eller om det endast används som ett informationsverktyg för att rapportera icke finansiell information.
